Continuous Innovation
Xyratex has built a reputation for continuous technical innovation in the disk drive industry. One critical area has been the development of high density fixture technology.
Fixture Technology - the Foundation for Advanced Test Solutions
The fixture (carrier) technology which holds the drive during testing is a fundamental part of the overall design of any test system and can directly affect final test yields, e.g., through extended settle issues.
To avoid mounting resonances, each drive needs to be held rigidly during the test process. Fixtures need to be robust, ergonomic, and reproducible in volume. The matrix of test cells also requires careful design to address internal matrix dynamics which can impact yields.
Xyratex has been continuously leading the industry in fixture technology.
The Maximus test system provides asynchronous drive testing with an individual drive test ‘environment’ which can have both 'Burn-in' and interface test capability for all drives up to 3.5". Each drive test slot has full temperature control between 30 and 70 degrees Centigrade*, being both thermally and dynamically isolated from each other, resulting in superior performance to support drives under test.
