X700 is the industry’s first ultra-small footprint, high-speed media test automation solution. Through the introduction of its new high-density test architecture, Xyratex now offers the substrate and media manufacturing industry a fully automated and highly optimized platform for the cost-effective volume testing of disks, in any form factor

The new X700 system is engineered from many of Xyratex’s already proven automation elements. This system offers substrate and media manufacturers the benefits of up to 700 disks per hour output, in a fully self-contained, third-party certified class 10 enclosure. The newly designed high-density test solution can also process 36 percent more disks in the same space compared to previous workcell solutions. This allows manufacturers to compete even more effectively in this important segment of the data storage market.

X700 offers a revolution in Cost of Ownership. The compact workcell changes the traditional approach for most industries. Previously, cleanroom space was consumed with floor mounted robotic systems that load and unload disks onto spindles for the test process. The X700 saves expensive cleanroom space while maintaining disk output by utilizing a class 1 rated, six-axis robot mounted from the top of the environmental enclosure, Xyratex lowers costs without compromising industry cleanliness requirements.

The compact workcell accommodates up to six spindles of multiple configurations of commercially available optical, burnish/glide and magnetic certifiers. The high-speed disk handling system supports 16 cassette nest locations in four independent racks, and uses windows-based cell software, which controls the automation, grading and product tracking, as well as interfaces with third party testers, and is fully integrated with customers' factory information systems.
