Xyratex will discuss the new breed of HPC data storage designed to meet the industry’s increasing I/O demands

Havant, UK – May 1, 2012 – Xyratex Ltd (Nasdaq: XRTX), a leading provider of data storage technology, today announced that Steve Paulhus, Director of Strategic Business Development, Xyratex, will speak at the High Performance Computing Symposium taking place May 1 - 3, in Vancouver.

HPCS, co-hosted by Compute Canada, is a multi-disciplinary conference that is considered Canada's premier HPC forum. The Symposium attracts researchers, industry experts and HPC innovators from a wide variety of disciplines including academia and research.

“We are excited to participate at HPCS to help promote and raise the level of awareness of high performance computing in Canada,” said Peter Bojanic, Software Development Director, Xyratex. “The opening of our center of excellence for storage software in Kitchener-Waterloo later this month validates our commitment to HPC and the Lustre® Community.”

HPC users continue to be challenged with processing massive amounts of critical data which create I/O bottlenecks. Xyratex took a new architectural approach when designing its first clustered file solution, the ClusterStor™ 3000. This unique approach by Xyratex solves bottleneck issues by using a balanced approach that scales I/O and compute together. The ClusterStor 3000 was announced less than a year ago and has made a significant impact on the HPC industry. In the presentation: “HPC Storage – Breaking the I/O Bottleneck” Steve Paulhus will discuss the flexible scale-up, scale-out architecture designed to meet the needs of the HPC industry.

Visit Xyratex in the Segal Centre (booth 19) to learn more about the ClusterStor architecture, the only integrated Lustre HPC storage solution available today. The Xyratex architecture delivers three interrelated benefits to the HPC environment: linear performance scalability, ease of installation and management, and enhanced storage system reliability at scale.
