nStor's High Availability System Selected for Japan's Most Popular Internet Map Service

CyberMap Japan Corp. Deploys nStor's Fibre Channel Systems for High-Level Performance and Data Protection

Carlsbad, CA – October 25, 2004 -- nStor Corporation, Inc., a subsidiary of nStor Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: NSO) and an innovative developer of storage-network solutions, today announced that CyberMap Japan Corp. has implemented the NexStor® 4320F storage system to support the rigorous uptime requirements of its Mapion Internet map service. The nStor Fibre Channel storage system has been deployed in a high availability clustered environment for maximum performance, reliability and business continuity.

CyberMap Japan Corp. operates Japan's first-ever Internet-based information map service called Mapion. The company was established in 1997 through a joint investment between Toppan and NTT-East (Nippon Telegraph & Telephone East Corporation). More than 670,000 landmarks are included in the database, ranging from place names, train station and accommodations to shopping, restaurants and town information. The immensely popular site is accessed by more than six million users each month.

A surge in web site traffic strained storage resources, resulting in problematic performance of existing SCSI Direct Attached Storage devices. To alleviate the problem, CyberMap Japan enlisted the support of a leading Linux systems integrator, Ten Art-ni (TSE: 3744) , to select a more robust and resilient storage platform. CyberMap Japan and Ten Art-ni conducted strenuous performance, disaster recovery and compatibility testing before choosing the best-of-class NexStor 4320F. “The nStor product outperformed all others in terms of advanced functionality, scalability and data throughput speeds,” said Hiroshi Ishida, CTO of CyberMap Japan Corp. “We're confident that NexStor's proven Fibre Channel platform will safeguard our vital data while ensuring that we stay in step with our escalating storage demands.”

The NexStor 4320F's ability to integrate with CyberMap Japan's clustered Linux environment also swayed the final decision. The Mapion system runs on an Oracle 9i database housed on Northern Lights IA severs with Linux. Given the high availability requirements, Steeleye's LifeKeeper® clustering software was utilized to ensure maximum system uptime. This seamless integration of high availability products, gives CyberMap Japan a cost effective and reliable solution. “The NexStor 4320F operates seamlessly with CyberMap Japan's existing environment, giving them a solid storage foundation upon which they can easily and affordably manage Mapion's dramatic growth,” noted Todd Gresham, nStor president and CEO.

The NexStor 4320F leverages nStor's enclosure technology, active/active Fibre Channel RAID controllers and StorView® storage management software to provide intuitive operation, advanced data protection and built-in volume sharing. “Our customers depend on us to recommend leading-edge technology that meets the highest standards,” explained Nobuo Kita, President and CEO at Ten Art-ni . “In evaluating the Fibre Channel RAID landscape, we concluded that the NexStor 4320F offered maximum performance at an optimal price.”

The NexStor 4320F complements nStor's existing line of Fibre Channel and SATA storage products that are currently deployed across a broad spectrum of video, investment banking, healthcare, and military applications. The modular systems ease incremental growth and provide the performance to easily meet the most rigorous data environments.
