nStor and LSI Logic Showcase Serial Attached SCSI Leadership at IDF

SAS flexibility and scalability are demonstrated
at Intel Developer Forum
nStor SAS storage system and LSI Logic SAS expander are featured

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM – San Francisco, CA. , March 1, 2005 – At this week's IDF conference, nStor Corporation, a subsidiary of nStor Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: NSO) and LSI Logic will demonstrate Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) solutions that showcase the flexibility of SAS to support both SAS and Serial ATA (SATA) disk drives within the same storage system. The joint SAS storage solution will be demonstrated in the LSI Logic booth # 509, the PCI-Express community and the SCSI Trade Association booth from March 1-3 at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco.

The SAS storage demonstration features the nStor SAS storage system connected to LSI Logic LSISAS3800X PCI-X to 8-port SAS host bus adapter (HBA) in a cascaded topology. Leveraging the use of SAS and SATA drives within the nStor SAS storage solution, nStor and LSI Logic will demonstrate flexibility and performance which showcases nStor's SAS storage system with LSI Logic's LSISASx12 expander. This demonstration further validates nStor's commitment to providing industry leading products and services to meet the needs of today's storage customer furthering their efforts in creating solutions that integrate cutting edge technology and ensure the end products maximize business efficiency through intuitive, high performance, value-based offerings.

"As the company with the industry's most complete SAS product portfolio, LSI Logic is constantly working with industry leaders to advance market adoption of the technology," said Robin Wagner, director of product marketing for the LSI Logic Storage Standard Products division. "We're pleased to be able to support nStor in providing a flexible SAS solution that greatly reduces the cost and complexity of purchasing, deploying and managing a storage system."

As the SAS physical layer is compatible with Serial ATA, users have the choice of populating their systems with SAS or SATA hard disk drives, or a combination of both. As different storage applications have different requirements, IT managers can configure the nStor SAS storage system with both SAS and SATA drives using the high performance, high availability SAS drives for primary enterprise applications, while utilizing low-cost, high-capacity SATA drives to meet the needs of secondary storage.

nStor's commitment to SAS technology ensures that customers are able to seamlessly migrate to the next enterprise technology. This is another step toward making SANs easier to use and more cost effective to implement.

“Our goal is to accelerate our leadership position in SAS technology by leveraging our collective teams with complementary technology and expertise in order to deliver the first SAS products to nStor's OEM and channel customers," said Lisa Hart, executive vice president of marketing and alliances, nStor. "LSI Logic is an excellent partner to help us accomplish this goal. They bring the expertise and products which will enable us to deliver our products to market faster.”
